COURSE DESCRIPTION

The CRISPR Genome Engineering summary course provides a comprehensive introduction to CRISPR-based genome editing, covering the molecular mechanisms, computational design, analysis, modeling, and cutting-edge applications in research, therapy, and biotechnology. Combining theoretical lectures with hands-on practical training, participants will gain both conceptual knowledge and technical skills necessary to design, execute, and interpret CRISPR experiments. The topics of this course include:

  • The evolution of CRISPR systems from their microbial origins

  • Next-generation editors such as base and prime editing

  • Computational analyses (e.g., guide design, off-target prediction, screening analysis, ML/AI modeling)

  • Applications in therapeutic genome editing, transcriptional modulation, and functional genomic screening

The course consists of lectures and hands-on sessions. World-class researchers will give lectures to introduce the most recent research advances in genome editing. During hands-on sessions, students will go through tutorials over many projects covering plasmid construction, guide design, data analysis, etc. The course welcomes talented and highly motivated undergrad/graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, scientists and professors who would like to learn the basics and the latest advances in genome engineering, perform basic computational design and analysis of CRISPR data, and/or apply various CRISPR technologies to their basic and translational research projects.
